Law is hard. Law is very hard. Every year around 2,000 students apply for Law at Auckland University, of them only 300 pass into second year! The minimum grade for safe entry is an A average, it is not a matter of passing or failing; it is a matter of beating 1,700 of New Zealand’s best students.

Law comes with very little guidance, you’ll never know if you’re right or wrong until the day you get your results back. It’s both very easy and very common to spend a large amount of time focused on something unimportant or worse, studying the material in the wrong way and missing the underlying messages.

Hundreds of smart students don’t make it into Law 2 every year, just because of simple misunderstandings like that. Rejected after a year of some of the hardest work they’ve ever had to do.
